Meet Christina Croll '93
Where do you live?
Loudoun County, Virginia
What do you do for work currently?
I am an independent communications consultant and a writer and I sit on several Boards of Directors.
What did you learn at IC that helped you get to where you are today (personally or professionally)?
The most significant 'takeaway' from my time at IC is that I met my husband of 25 years at Ithaca College! I also forged many personal and professional relationships that I still maintain today.
How did you get involved with IC after graduating (did you volunteer? Did you speak in a classroom? Attend events?)?
After graduating, I attended many IC networking events in NYC and I came back to campus a few times to speak to students and visit with professor friends.
Why do you LOVE IC?
I loved Ithaca not only for the academics but also for the natural beauty of the campus and surrounding area. I took advantage of the Ithaca-Cornell course sharing opportunity and enrolled in several classes at Cornell while I was an IC student, including immersive Japanese language. I was on the IC President's Host Committee and loved touring prospects around Ithaca's campus. I have always felt that Ithaca College offers the perfect undergraduate experience... superb professors, state of the art equipment, nice students, a safe, bucolic campus, a very active extended community, a strong alumni network... IC has it all.
Anything else interesting/pertinent that you’d like to include: (Are you close with other alumni? A professor you loved? Student orgs you were involved with?)
I had incredible opportunities while at Ithaca. In addition to my three years studying on campus, I did a Semester At Sea and then I took a leave of absence to move overseas to open Disneyland Paris. Because of Ithaca's program flexibility, I was still able to graduate on time. While on campus, I Chaired the Ad Lab team twice and in my senior year, we won the National Student Advertising Competition. One of my professors, Howard Cogan (of "Ithaca is Gorges" fame), became such a lifelong friend that he and his wife Helen did the convocation at our wedding. I am still connected to other professors, and many of my classmates, 30 years after graduating.
