Meet David Sargoy '79, Parent '14

Where do you live?

Hicksville, New York

What do you currently do for work?

I am the Director of the Commercial Real Estate Division for Brown Harris Stevens Commercial Real Estate (firm established in 1873).

What did you learn at IC that helped you get to where you are today (personally or professionally)?

Professors were instrumental in helping me get to where I am. Professor David Long helped me get an internship in Washington,DC and Gus Perialis (Burser) helped me decide which Graduate School to go to. I also met my wife at IC and my daughter went to the Park School.

How did you get involved with IC after graduating (did you volunteer? Did you speak in a classroom? Attend events?)?

I was invited to speak at the Fireside Chat Series.

Anything else interesting/pertinent that you’d like to include: (Are you close with other alumni? A professor you loved? Student orgs you were involved with?)

I was a brother in Pi Lambda Chi and we still have get togethers to this day. I played football freshman year, went to London first semester junior year and was on the first rugby teams at IC which started second semester junior year when we got back from London. I have spoken at the Business School about careers in commercial real estate and recently hosted approx. 30 students with professors at our corporate offices in Manhattan.
