Meet Erin DeMarco '01
Where do you live?
Ardmore, PA
What do you do for work currently?
Assistant Director, Compliance at the University of Delaware
What did you learn at IC that helped you get to where you are today (personally or professionally)?
I learned that when you take advantages of opportunities in front of you and engage with those supporting you, the world opens up beyond what you expected. I probably came to college with tunnel vision and left excited about the horizons ahead. It’s true across so many facets of my time at IC: academics, career, soccer, leadership and building community. There’s no way I could have done it alone and I’ve relied on the relationships of many Bombers since graduating!
How did you get involved with IC after graduating (did you volunteer? Did you speak in a classroom? Attend events?)
I attended local IC events in Philadelphia and women’s soccer alumni games whenever I could. Then, a classmate and friend introduced me to the Board of Directors a year before I applied and was excited about how to strengthen my relationship with IC. A former teammate then encouraged me to apply. It was great to see how friends and teammates were involved and engaged with South Hill. There are more ways to stay connected and get involved than I had imagined. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow my relationship with IC and for the future of IC alumni!
Why do you LOVE IC?
I love IC for the diversity of experiences that it provided across my undergraduate and graduate years. Accessible faculty that lead to engaging relationships and professional guidance; athletics that take pride in competing on the national stage with amazing teammates and staff; a beautiful campus and surrounding area for fun outside of the classroom.
What else were you involved in as an IC student?
Student organizations I was involved with include: Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Firat Year Peer Leader for I.N.V.O.L.V.E.D., Leadership Advisory Committee, Summer Orientation Leader.
