Frederick Laub ’71

Edgar “Dusty” Bredbenner Jr. ’50 Distinguished Alumni Award

Fred has been an enthusiastic advocate for Ithaca College and its students since he was a student himself. He has made major contributions as a volunteer in both regional activities and fundraising. Fred’s enthusiasm and commitment to enhancing the student experience is demonstrated through his personal contributions that include establishing the Laub Family Scholarship and the Beverly Baker ’54 School of Music Travel Ensemble Fund.

After graduating from IC in 1971 with a degree in economics and subsequently earning an MBA from Cornell University, Fred launched a successful career in advertising followed by a 30+ year entrepreneurial venture with Utmost Interiors, a design and decorating company in Miami, Florida. Fred’s investment in IC has been consistent and unwavering through the years. From his involvement in the Student Government Association and as editor-in-chief of The Cayugan to his many volunteer roles as an alumnus, Fred has been a visible and active supporter of IC throughout his life.

Fred served as a member of IC’s Alumni Association Board of Directors from 1974 to 1976, and more recently has been an alumni admission volunteer. In addition to his philanthropy that supports the School of Music, Fred has also donated artwork by Dorothy Hoyt Dillingham and supported the Ithaca College Annual Fund and the Friends of Ithaca College Annual Fund.
