ICUnity Social Justice Awards
ICUnity celebrates the accomplishments of Ithaca College community members who made a difference in their school, workplace, or neighborhood, by identifying a practice that needed to be changed, an idea that needed to be implemented, or took other actions to further the goals of equity, diversity, and inclusivity. Those recognized are presented with an ICUnity Social Justice Award. The awards are announced annually during Ithaca College's Alumni Weekend festivities.

Both individual IC community members and IC-related organizations/groups are eligible for the Award—and nominees can be either IC alums or current students.
All nominations for the Award will be considered by ICUnity's Executive Board members. Nominators should explain the problem or issue the individual or group nominee identified, how the nominee addressed it, and the change(s) resulting from the nominee’s efforts.
We recognize the work of equity, diversity and inclusion is an ongoing process, and thus our focus is on steps taken to raise issues, propose changes, and begin the hard work needed to implement those changes. There is no need that an individual or group’s concerns be completely accomplished at this point—the most important thing is to identify the issues, confront those able to make needed changes, and begin working with them to resolve the issues in a satisfactory manner.
Previous Award winners are:
- 2021: Katie Quan '15 (B.A. in Culture and Communication);
- 2022: Treasure Blackman '22, (Physical Therapy) and Nicole-Bethany Onwuka '22 (Acting major/Writing minor).
